Nitrene transfer reactions catalyzed by gold complexes.

We report here the first gold-catalyzed nitrene transfer reaction. A gold(I) compound, supported by 4,4',4' '-tri-tert-butyl-2,2':6',2' '-terpyridine (tBu3tpy) as the ligand, efficiently catalyzes olefin aziridination with the use of the commercially available oxidant PhI(OAc)2 and sulfonamides. This system also mediates carbene insertion into benzene.

Nitrene transfer reactions catalysed by copper(I) complexes in ionic liquid using chloramine-T.

The complex [Tpm(*,Br)Cu(NCMe)]BF4 (Tpm(*,Br) = HC(3,5-Me2-4-Br-pyrazolyl)3) catalyses the aziridination of alkenes and the amidation of cyclic ethers with chloramine-T as the nitrene source and the ionic liquid [bmim]PF6 as the reaction medium (bmim = 1-n-butyl-3-methylimidazolium). High conversions have been obtained over several cycles of catalyst recovery and reuse.

Exploiting and engineering hemoproteins for abiological carbene and nitrene transfer reactions.

The surge in reports of heme-dependent proteins as catalysts for abiotic, synthetically valuable carbene and nitrene transfer reactions dramatically illustrates the evolvability of the protein world and our nascent ability to exploit that for new enzyme chemistry. We highlight the latest additions to the hemoprotein-catalyzed reaction repertoire (including carbene Si-H and C-H insertions, Doyle...

Porphyrin Cobalt(III) "Nitrene Radical" Reactivity; Hydrogen Atom Transfer from Ortho-YH Substituents to the Nitrene Moiety of Cobalt-Bound Aryl Nitrene Intermediates (Y = O, NH).

In the field of cobalt(II) porphyrin-catalyzed metallo-radical reactions, organic azides have emerged as successful nitrene transfer reagents. In the pursuit of employing ortho-YH substituted (Y = O, NH) aryl azides in Co(II) porphyrin-catalyzed nitrene transfer reactions, unexpected hydrogen atom transfer (HAT) from the OH or NH₂ group in the ortho-position to the nitrene moiety of the key rad...
